The City of Haines City owns two cemeteries, Forest Hill Cemetery, located on Grace Avenue, and Oakland Cemetery, located on Cemetery Road and North 10th Street. Appointments to choose spaces at the cemeteries can be made through the City Clerk’s Office by calling 863-421-9921. A Parks Division employee will meet purchasers at the cemetery and show which spaces are available. The purchaser then proceeds to City Hall, 502 Hinson Avenue, to pay for the spaces, either by cash or check. After payment, a deed will be issued in the grantee’s name and recorded with the Polk County Clerk of Court. No funeral services will be allowed at the cemeteries until full payment has been made. Funeral homes are to contact the City Clerk’s Office to arrange for services at the cemeteries. The City does not provide any opening or closing arrangements.
